Hi, my name is Theresa Yale and I am Southern Tier Stables new instructor!
Horses are my passion in life and i have been in the horse business for about 10 years. Istarted riding when I was 7 years old and i begged my parents to let me go take a lesson. Finally, they gave in and before you know it I was taking lessons every week. As I got stronger as a rider and moved from horse to horse, I began to find myself. From the sassiest ponies to the sweetest gentle giants i rode, I just got better and better.
Soon after that, it was time to start looking for my first horse and, man, was I in shock when I got my dream horse, Pepper! I was almost 8 when i got him and that was a lot of responsibility for a child, but you can bet I was up every morning to feed and care for my new horse! With lots of hard work he and I grew to be an amazing team. Though we were not very
successful in the show pen, I kept taking lessons and riding all the horses I could. Soon it was time for me to learn more and that was when i met Mr. Mark Minnoe.
He trained me on how to show horses in a way no one else ever did. He let me borrow his horses,we would go to shows with the rest of the barn and we would all clean house! As time went on,I got my first true show horse,Diva. She was and still is my sweetheart horse! We showed many times in many different events such as Barrel Racing, Hunter Under Saddle, and my personal favorite Western Pleasure. I showed on my own for a few years,as most people do, to find out what they really want to train on. After going to many shows to watch and learn, I knew Western Pleasure was my passion!
From there I began training with a few different people to learn everything i could about how to perfect the Western Pleasure look. Soon after,I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to show a world champion horse at a few local shows and we brought home all the blue Ribbons! We were Champion Open Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, and Trail! This horse could do it all and i was so lucky to have been able to get the chance to show
him. At the end of our time together, he won the most beautiful buckle! He was the number 3 top horse out of the whole show season that summer!
I have been showing horses for about 5 years and over the past 2 years I have started to make a name for myself. As a young woman taking the next step in my horse career, I now want to teach others what I have been taught for many years, from some of the best trainers around!
I will be offering intermediate/advanced lessons for those who would like to further their horse show horizon. I will be focusing on Western Pleasure and Hunt Seat Saddle disciplines. Southern Tier Stables and I have teamed up to bring you a few new things this coming 2019 season! We will be offering training clinics open to anyone and a new horse show series in the works.
